Check out the Nanotechnology Startup Challenge in Cancer

The National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer and the Center for Advancing Innovation have partnered to create a “first of a kind” Nanotechnology Startup Challenge in Cancer or NSC2.

The National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Alliance for Nanotechnology in Cancer and the Center for Advancing Innovation have partnered to create a “first of a kind” Nanotechnology Startup Challenge in Cancer or NSC2.  Nanotechnology offers new solutions for early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. NCI has been actively supporting the development of cancer nanotechnology over last decade. Several academic discoveries in this area have reached maturity and NSC2 is expected to accelerate the development and commercialization of these inventions.

The Challenge will feature 4-6 National Institutes of Health (NIH) intramural inventions which can be applied to cancer interventions, are important to public health, and have commercial viability. Teams may select one of these inventions upon which to build business plans and startups.  Teams may also   elect to bring alternative commercially viable, nanotechnology cancer-related inventions into the challenge.

The primary goal of the Challenge is to stimulate the creation of start-up businesses based upon these inventions.

The challenge website can be found at http://www.NSCsquared.org; the inventions and further details concerning the Challenge will be added soon. Entries to the Challenge will start being accepted October 12th, 2015 and they will be accepted until Feb. 11th, 2016.

Winners will be selected separately amongst the teams that select the NIH inventions and those that bring their own inventions.

Please support the effort:  spread the word; nominate a judge/mentor or start/join a team!
