Craig W. Woods DVM, MS, MBA
Director of the Institute for Healthcare Innovation
Craig Woods is the Director of the Institute for Healthcare Innovation at Midwestern University. In this capacity, Craig oversees human (phase II-IV) and veterinary clinical research on the Arizona and Illinois campuses, and within external hospitals. Craig also teaches courses in toxinology and serves as an investigator on several human and veterinary clinical studies in the areas of infectious disease, neurology, orthopedics, and oncology.
Prior to academia, Craig held various regulatory, research and business development positions in the pharmaceutical industry. During his pharmaceutical career, Craig led due diligence and licensing negotiations for various drugs, biologics, and devices. As an entrepreneur, he has founded several start-up biomedical companies to develop bioscaffolds, peptide immune-therapeutics, and medical devices. Craig was in full time veterinary practice from 1995-1998, and has been a licensed veterinarian in Arizona since 1995.
Craig received his B.S., M.S., and D.V.M. from the University of Missouri and his M.B.A. from Arizona State University. While at the University of Missouri, Craig was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Fellowship and a Veterinary Biomedical Fellowship which established his interest in pursuing clinical research.
