 vances in lifestyle medicine\, acute and chronic inflammation\, the emergi
 ng science about the microbiome and tools people can use to reduce disease
  risk.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nFrom Sick Care to Health Care: Lifestyle Medicine and
  the Prevention of Chronic Disease\,” will be presented Wednesday\, Sept
 . 5\, 6-7:15 p.m.\, at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson\, DuVal
  Auditorium\, 1501 N. Campbell Ave.\, Tucson. The 75-minute presentation w
 ill include time for questions and answers.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n[caption id="att

 caption]\n\nSpeaker Charles A. Katzenberg\, MD\, FACC\, will address issue
 s of chronic diseases\, while offering evidence-based preventive measures.
  He will discuss the difference between preventing and treating chronic di
 sease\, advances in lifestyle medicine\, acute and chronic inflammation\, 
 the emerging science about the microbiome and the tools people can use to 
 reduce disease risk.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nOther topics will include the links bet
 ween arthritis and heart disease\, the heart-brain connection\, opportunit
 ies offered by wearable technology and the key modifiable risk factors for
  arthritis\, heart disease\, cancer\, diabetes\, hypertension and Alzheime
 r's.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nPreventable chronic diseases and conditions account for
  the majority of health-care costs\, disability and mortality in the Unite
 d States\, where one in two adults has a chronic disease and one in four h
 as two or more. Chronic diseases are responsible for seven of 10 deaths ea
 ch year and account for 86 percent of the nation’s $2.7 trillion in annu
 al health-care expenditures. Although heart disease is the leading cause o
 f death in the United States\, representing nearly one in four deaths\, ar
 thritis is the most common cause of disability. Of the nearly 54 million a
 dults with doctor-diagnosed arthritis\, more than 23 million note difficul
 ty with their usual activities because of arthritis.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThis le
 cture is presented in partnership with the UA Sarver Heart Center. Seating

 thy with Arthritis” series of free monthly talks presented by the UA Art
 hritis Center at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson and supported throu
 gh the Susan and Saul Tobin Endowment for Research and Education in Rheuma
 tology.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAbout Dr. Katzenberg\n\nCharles A. Katzenberg\, MD\,
  FACC\, is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Arizona C
 ollege of Medicine –Tucson\, a member of the UA Sarver Heart Center\, an
 d a board-certified cardiologist who founded The Heart Series. The Heart S
 eries teaches people how to prevent heart disease and improve their length
  and quality of life. He practices what he preaches. He’s a pesca-vegan 
 eater and an enthusiastic cyclist who has been known to appear at communit
 y lectures in cycling gear.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nDr. Katzenberg practices at Bann
 er – University Medicine North. He completed his bachelor's degree in ch
 emistry at Miami University in Oxford\, Ohio\, and his medical degree at t
 he University of Illinois - Chicago. He completed an internship and reside
 ncy in internal medicine and was a chest disease fellow at Michael Reese H
 ospital and Medical Center in Chicago. His fellowship in cardiovascular me
 dicine was completed at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson in 1982. Pri
 or to returning to the UA in 2014\, Dr. Katzenberg was in private practice
  as co-founder of Pima Heart Associates and was co-director of Pima Heart 
 Cardiac Rehabilitation. He also served as medical director of the Tucson H
 eart Hospital from 1997 to 2004.\n\nActive in the Tucson medical community
 \, Dr. Katzenberg served as 2013-14 president of the Pima County Medical S
 ociety and has been a board member since 2008. He also is a board member o
 f the Arizona Employer Healthcare Alliance\, a member of Physicians for a 
 National Healthcare Program and the American Society for Preventive Cardio
 logy. Among other outside activities\, he helped develop Arizona’s first
  Medicare-approved community cardiac rehabilitation program outside of a h
 ospital\, co-founded the Fitness &amp\; Health Institute of Tucson (FIT) a
 s well as The Heart Series\, Arizona’s first intensive cardiac rehabilit
 ation program. A study of Heart Series participants that demonstrated impr
 ovements in cardiovascular risk factors and outcomes recently was publishe
 d in the American Journal of Medicine. In 2010\, he formed the Foundation 
 for Cardiovascular Health\, focused on coronary heart disease prevention. 
 He also volunteers for St. Elizabeth’s Health Center\, Clinica Amistad a
 nd Mended Hearts.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAbout the University of Arizona Arthritis
