DESCRIPTION:\nWearable Technology: What’s the Role in Early Detection?\nM
 ay 13\, 2020\n10:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT/AZ\nREGISTER\n\nJLABS Program Overvi
ew\nWhen a new infectious disease emerges\, health care systems are faced
with the challenging task of testing individuals at an increased demand wi
thout necessarily having access to the necessary supply of diagnostics. Ho
wever\, as the wearable device market grows and more individuals have the
ability to monitor their own health metrics\, what role can wearable techn
ologies play in the early disease detection phase?\n\nIf wearable devices
have the ability to provide continuous sensing capabilities while accurate
ly capturing signals\, is there a role that wearable devices play in forec
asting illness? What role can wearable technology play in an outbreak resp
onse at both the individual level and global level?\n\nJoin our panel with
industry experts to discuss the potential for innovation in the use of we
arable technologies for early detection.\n\nThis program is a product of a
collaboration between Johnson &amp\; Johnson Innovation – JLABS (JLABS)
and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA)\,
a component of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and
Response in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.\nSpeakers\nJ
 ulie Schafer\, PhD\, MPH\,&nbsp\;Chief Technology Officer\, Flu Lab\n\nJul
ie Schafer\, PhD\, MPH is the Chief Technology Officer for Flu Lab\, seeki
ng to stretch the boundaries of how technology is used toward defeating in
fluenza. Julie has held a number of leadership positions in the US Governm
ent\, including Chief of Staff\, and later Director of Strategy\, for the
Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority at the U.S. Departm
ent of Health and Human Services (HHS).\n\nJulie served in the White House
National Security Council and has led complex influenza vaccine\, therape
utic\, and diagnostic advanced development programs as well as an initiati
ve toward pre-symptomatic identification of illness and exposures.\n\nŠei

earch and Development Authority (BARDA)\n\nŠeila Selimović\, PhD serves
as a Biologist / Program Manager in the Biomedical Advanced Research and D
evelopment Authority (BARDA) at the US Department of Health and Human Serv
ices. Her work focuses on transformational technologies that provide early
and actionable health information to individuals and health care provider
s.\n\nPrior to BARDA\, Šeila was a Program Director at the National Insti
tute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering\, and a AAAS Science and Tec
hnology Policy Fellow at the US Department of State.\n\nŠeila completed h
er PhD in Condensed Matter Physics at Brandeis University and pursed a pos
tdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School / Brigham &amp\; Women’s
Hospital. Her experience includes microfluidics\, biosensors\, tissue engi
 neering\, microphysiological systems\, and energy policy.\n\nJeffrey Bemow
 ski\, MBA\,&nbsp\;CEO of Clairways\n\nJeffrey Bemowski\, MBA\, CEO of Clai
rways\, has performed extensive market research to define the customer and
unmet need for Clairways technology and to develop partnerships with init
ial customers.\n\nJeff previously worked in product management for Endotro
nix\, a digital health company developing hemodynamic monitoring solutions
. He also worked as a project management consultant at PwC\, advising clie
nts on large technology development programs. And finally\, he has experie
nce in finance\, where he sized and structured bonds.\nAgenda\n1:00pm -&nb
