The 2021 Rocky Mountain Regional Meeting will host its first ever Chemistry Scorpion Pit Competition this year at Tucson Marriott University Park, Tucson, AZ. Invited entries will be required to feature the most pioneering research and ideas or business plans in the field of chemistry.

Participants will present in a “pure pitch” style with nothing but their vision/plan, value of their work and presentation skills.1
All participants will have an opportunity to receive important and crucial feedback for their plan from a group of advisors or as referred to in this event, the “RMRM2021 Scorpions”.

The selected winner of the Chemistry Scorpion Pit Competition will receive up to a $1,500 grant and/or possible real-life funding from an interested scorpion, and a 6-week NSF ICORPs local cohort training to support the development of the winning idea that will help advance the field of chemistry.

Eligibility:

  • All entrepreneurs from academia, industry, or non-profit organizations in all academic levels are eligible to participate in the competition.
  • Startups with founding date no earlier than January 2019.
  • Non-company presenters should have at least 2 team members.

Application Period: Applications are accepted through Monday, October 4th, 7 pm (PDT)

All applicants are required to provide:

  3. A presentation deck with no more than 10 slides
  4. A Pitch Video
