Jacob Busch
Director of Business Development
Translational Genomics Research Institute, part of City of Hope (TGen)
Jacob Busch currently serves as the Director of Business Development at TGen, part of City of Hope.
In this role, Jacob leads business development efforts, supports institutional initiatives, and oversees contract execution at TGen.
Working closely with TGen’s Chief Operating Officer, Jacob oversees TGen’s business development endeavors at the onboarding stages through execution. Jacob serves as a key link between the scientific and administrative leadership. He supports commercialization efforts of TGen’s intellectual property and identifies opportunities for TGen’s breakthroughs to reach patients. He also supports key strategic business ventures and high priority collaborations with several
external partners.
With over a decade of experience in the genomics field, Jacob’s expertise covers both the technical and business sides of the industry. In support of TGen’s efforts in molecular diagnostic and therapeutic development, data science, bioinformatics, and machine learning, he maintains a detailed awareness of industry trends, emerging opportunities, and innovative technologies to
develop collaborative relationships with industry partners. Jacob also supports the various service centers at TGen that provide sequencing, microbiomic, metabolomic, proteomic, and many more services to academic and industry partners.
Jacob holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. Prior to his role at TGen, Jacob held positions in the biotechnology, healthcare, and research sectors, including roles at Dignity Health and Caris Life Sciences in Phoenix, Arizona, and Bayer CropScience in Lubbock, Texas.
