The University of Arizona Medical Center – Diamond Children’s One of Three Pediatric Facilities Honored by Children’s Action Alliance

TUCSON, Ariz. –The University of Arizona Medical Center – Diamond Children’s was one of three hospitals honored Friday at the annual Children’s Action Alliance “Through the Eyes of a Child” awards luncheon in Phoenix.

The event celebrates outstanding pediatric medical care in Arizona. Banner Health’s Cardon Children’s Medical Center and Phoenix Children’s Hospital were honored as well. All three facilities have invested in growing exceptional medical care designed specifically for children.

“During a time of huge uncertainty and upheaval in health care, these three institutions and their leadership teams had the vision and the courage to build tremendous assets for our children and our community,” said Dana Wolfe Naimark, president and CEO of Children’s Action Alliance. “Each of them exemplifies the type of community action and eye on the future that Children’s Action Alliance strives for every day.”

Catherine Anaya from KPHO-TV (CBS 5 News) emceed the event, and the Percussion Ensemble from Arizona School for the Arts performed. The day included a silent auction featuring ceramics and framed artwork created by Phoenix-area students.

Fayez K. Ghishan, MD, physician-in-chief of Diamond Children’s, accepted the award on behalf of Diamond Children’s. “This is a great honor for Diamond Children’s,” said Dr. Ghishan. “We are proud of our doctors, nurses and staff, who are committed to providing outstanding care for our children.”
