University of Arizona Cancer Center recognized for great oncology programs

UACC named to list of hospitals and health systems with ‘great oncology programs’ by Becker’s Hospital Review.

The University of Arizona Cancer Center and its clinical partner, University of Arizona Medical Center, are included in Becker’s Hospital Review’s list of 70 hospitals and health systems with “great oncology programs.”

“These hospitals are on the cutting edge of cancer treatment, prevention and research, and the Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected them based on their clinical accolades, quality care and contributions to the field of oncology,” the publication said on its website.

Becker’s noted that the 70 health systems have been recognized by a number of reputable healthcare rating resources and organizations, such as the National Cancer Institute. The University of Arizona Cancer Center is one of just 41 NCI-desginated comprehensive cancer centers in the US.

“They have demonstrated continual innovation in treatments and services, patient-centered care and the achievement of clinical milestones and groundbreaking discoveries,” Becker’s said.

The UA Cancer Center is the only Arizona-based cancer program included in the Becker’s list and the only one listed that is located in the desert Southwest.
