Accelerating Angels Invests in Anuncia Medical

Investment supports a women-led, commercial-stage medical technology company improving outcomes for patients with hydrocephalus.

DUBLIN, Ohio — July 2026 — Accelerating Angels announces a $100,000 investment in Anuncia Medical, a commercial-stage medical technology company developing innovative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) management solutions for patients living with hydrocephalus. The investment reflects Accelerating Angels’ commitment to backing exceptional women-led companies that address significant healthcare challenges through differentiated technology with meaningful commercial potential.

This investment will support continued commercial expansion, clinical evidence generation, and broader adoption of the company’s FDA-cleared, Breakthrough Device Designated (BDD) ReFlow® System Mini for hydrocephalus and the launch of its BDD ReFlow EVD Flusher for neurocritical care later this year. Anuncia Medical is led by CEO and President Elsa Chi Abruzzo, RAC, FRAPS, an engineer and 38- year veteran medical technology executive.

Anuncia’s ReFlow® System Mini is indicated to restore, increase, or maintain cerebrospinal fluid flow within implanted shunt systems through a non-invasive flushing mechanism patients and caregivers can use at home. The technology is intended to help address one of the most persistent challenges in hydrocephalus treatment: ventricular catheter occlusions, a leading cause of shunt failure and repeat brain surgeries.

Hydrocephalus affects patients across all stages of life and is commonly treated through surgically implanted cerebrospinal fluid shunts. Each year, tens of thousands of adults and children undergo revision surgeries because of shunt failures, creating significant physical, emotional, and financial burdens for patients, families, and healthcare systems.

Accelerating Angels was particularly attracted to Anuncia Medical’s combination of:

Commercial traction in 40+ US hospitals with a differentiated FDA-cleared technology and existing reimbursement
Clinical validation for a large unmet clinical need with attractive market potential
Significant health-economic value for hospitals and payers, and high patient impact
Robust IP-protected product pipeline and experienced leadership team

“We are excited to invest in Anuncia Medical because it represents exactly the type of company we seek to support—one led by an exceptional Hispanic woman CEO, addressing a significant healthcare challenge with innovative, clinically meaningful technology,” said Cindi Englefield, Co-Founder and CEO of Accelerating Angels.

Anuncia Medical’s ReFlow™ technology offers clinicians a unique, non-invasive method to attempt to restore or maintain cerebrospinal fluid flow within shunt systems, potentially reducing the need for revision surgeries in appropriately selected patients. The company’s technology has received FDA clearance, and early published clinical data have demonstrated encouraging outcomes in reducing recurrent proximal shunt failures among patients studied, while additional clinical evaluation continues. For patients and caregivers, fewer emergency revisions can mean fewer hospitalizations and greater control over daily life, easing the constant worry of the next shunt failure.

“At Accelerating Angels, we look for founders who combine deep domain expertise with the vision and perseverance required to build category-defining companies,” Englefield added. “Anuncia Medical exemplifies that combination, and we are excited to help support the company’s next phase of commercial growth.”

“We are grateful to Accelerating Angels for their support and conviction in empowering women-led ventures, which, their data show, deliver roughly 35% higher returns to investors than male-led companies. Their investment in our $6M+ Series A round, closing this quarter, is also about patient empowerment,” said Elsa Chi Abruzzo, RAC, FRAPS, CEO and President of Anuncia Medical. “Patients tell us ReFlow® gives them more than peace of mind. They feel the tactile feedback of the Mini’s flusher dome refilling as their catheter opens, and real symptom relief when they clear an occlusion that has begun to form. Patients, neurosurgeons, neurologists, and the nurses who follow them also tell us this is leading to fewer ER visits, workups, and readmissions. Of course, we are excited about the revision reduction data that are starting to get published, but for these patients, there is potentially so much more.”

The investment is part of Accelerating Angels’ strategy to invest in high-growth, women-led technology companies with the potential to deliver strong financial returns while solving important societal challenges.
