The Health Challenge Cinova Is Addressing

From a plastics molding perspective, they are seeing a lot of signals that PFAS-containing resins (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), or “forever chemicals,” used in plastics for medical devices, are becoming a hot topic. Medical device companies are scrambling to validate non-PFAS resins in their devices in order to meet state-mandated discontinuance dates. Identifying which of their devices contain PFAS resins has become a high priority for many of the larger med device companies. Cinova is working alongside these companies to help them identify and validate new, non-PFAS materials.

From a digital health perspective, Cinova Medical is actively engaged in developing software to enhance SMART (AI) manufacturing in its Phoenix operations. This is a formal initiative that has allowed them to develop an internship program where they tap into ASU’s Fulton School of Engineering, a great opportunity for engineering students to be on the leading edge of AI development in manufacturing. The expected outcome of this multi-year initiative will be radically reduced manufacturing times, improved quality, and lower cost of goods for their customers.

How Cinova Is Making an Impact

The expected outcome of this multi-year initiative will be radically reduced manufacturing times, improved quality, and lower cost of goods for their customers. Through both material innovation and AI-driven manufacturing, Cinova is helping medical device companies adapt to evolving regulations while improving efficiency and scalability.

Growth & Expansion

Cinova Medical is also expanding its vertically integrated manufacturing platform through strategic acquisitions. The company recently announced the acquisition of Elastomer Technologies, Inc. (ETI), a Southern California–based custom molder specializing in liquid silicone rubber and high-consistency gum rubber components used in medical devices.

ETI will continue operating from its current California facility while Cinova completes construction of its new Phoenix cleanroom expansion. Once completed, silicone molding operations are expected to transition to Arizona, further strengthening the region’s advanced medical manufacturing ecosystem.

“We look forward to being recognized as an industry-leading, medical device contract manufacturing company, one that just happens to be located in Phoenix. We want to be part of helping Arizona reach its goal of becoming a Top 10 med device state by the year 2030. As part of this contribution, Cinova played an integral role in bringing the Medical Product Outsourcing (MPO) Summit to Phoenix in October 2027. This 2027 Summit had been scheduled to take place in Austin, Texas. We rerouted the Summit to Phoenix.” – Dave Mabie, Executive Vice President, Operating Partner Cinova Medical

In addition, Cinova expects to complete the acquisition of a mold manufacturing and machining business that will enhance its in-house tooling and production capabilities. Together, these investments reflect Cinova’s strategy to expand its vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities and meet growing demand from medical device innovators.

Powered by Arizona’s Bioscience Ecosystem

As Cinova continues to grow its medical & life sciences manufacturing business in Arizona, they look for ways to become more vertically integrated to support the industry with its outsourced manufacturing needs. In some cases, this only requires the addition of a new piece of equipment or manufacturing capability. But in Cinova’s case, they have acquired two additional Phoenix-based manufacturing companies in the past 2 years to support their growth. Concurrent to these acquisitions, they are actively investing millions of dollars into their existing footprint and adding a new 10,000 sq ft Class 8 clean room dedicated to medical molding.
