Job Description

THORACIC DISEASE AND TRANSPLANTATION RESEARCH The CENTER FOR THORACIC DISEASE AND TRANSPLANTATION in the Heart and Lung Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center is seeking an Faculty Research Scientist to join our team!

Laboratory research work by the successful candidate is intended to complement clinical activities and research in a unique and dynamic institution.  Qualified applicants holding M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent degrees will be considered for appointment at assistant, associate or full professor levels.  Successful candidates will be expected to orchestrate a program of extramurally-funded, independent research and to assume educational and administrative responsibilities.

Institutional strategic interests are in lung cancer, esophageal cancer, tumor immunology, lung transplantation, and/or acute/chronic organ rejection.

Located in Phoenix, AZ this position is critical to the success of St. Joseph’s Hospital Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health, formerly Catholic Healthcare West (CHW).   Two (2) years of experience following the Ph.D., M.D. or D.SC. degree in a field related to current area of research required. Experience writing grant applications for support of own work and supervising more junior trainees preferred. Doctorate, Ph.D., M.D. or D.Sc. degree or equivalent in a relevant field of endeavor required. Postdoctoral training as a research fellow preferred. Laboratory skills and techniques execution and development required. Mathematical, scientific, reasoning, and oral and written communication skills adequate to launch a viable, productive and extramurally-funded research program required. EOE ~cb~
