Making Our Way to Top-10 Bioscience Status

Arizona is not a top-10 bioscience state yet but were making the right moves and pursuing the goal.  Check out some of the key programs and initiatives that will get us there.

2022 marks the 20-year anniversary of Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap.  This is a long-term strategic plan originally commissioned by the Flinn Foundation in 2002 and updated in 2014 with the goal of Arizona becoming globally competitive and a national leader in select areas of the biosciences by 2025.   Flinn Foundation is hosting a statewide Roadmap Update on April 20th.  Register today to learn all of the latest data reported by TEConomy Partners.

Building strong companies:  AZBioPEERS educational sessions and AZBioPEERS Mentoring cohorts are key to helping our companies innovate, build, and grow.  Applications for the next AZBioPEERS Cohort open May 1st! And, as grants administrator for the Flinn Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program, we are working with the Flinn Team to deliver funding, professional support, and networking opportunities to Arizona early-stage bioscience firms.

Addressing  venture capital needs: Seed and early-stage funding is the catalyst that helps our startups grow so that they can be competitive when they reach the angel investment and then venture capital funding stages. Arizona does not have enough of this essential funding as our companies from seed to angel to VC.  That is why AZBio sought and was awarded a multi year EDA grant to address this need and has partnered with the Opportunity Through Entrepreneurship Foundation to create AZAdvances.

Developing the workforce we need as we grow: AZAdvances Talent targets the needs of the next generation of bioscience leaders – our students.  Check out how this program will make an impact once funding is available.  We are spotlighting this program for #AZGivesDay.  Want to help with the launch of this important program?  Make a CHARITABLE donation today.

Planning for the future:  AZBio is working with Arizona’s elected leaders as you read this to establish the Arizona Health Innovation Trust Fund.  Stay tuned for announcements coming soon.  Want to help make this vison a reality?  Contact AZBio and we will show you how you can help shape the future of our health innovation sector TODAY!
