Phoenix-based TapRoot raises $1.4 million Seed Round to Redefine Caregiving for Cognitively Impacted Persons

Phoenix, Arizona. Jan. 16, 2023 — TapRoot Interventions & Solutions, Inc. (“TapRoot”), a Phoenix-based digital healthcare company, closed a $1.4 million dollar seed round in late December. TapRoot’s mission is to improve health outcomes for cognitively challenged persons and their caregivers via TapRoot’s digital solution, Ella®.  Croghan Investments led the round followed by strategic angel investors.

Ella powered by TapRoot, is a cloud-based, HIPAA-compliant platform that caregivers access to mitigate behavioral episodes known to occur when dementia-related symptoms are present. Ella is setting a new standard of care and suggests non-pharmacological interventions to prevent or reduce high-risk behavioral reactions in cognitively impaired persons.

“TapRoot is an exciting company that has shown tremendous progress in a short window of time,” stated Ray Croghan. “I see TapRoot’s Ella as an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an area of significant market need.”

“We’re excited about 2023 and thrilled to have Ray’s wealth of experience helping to guide our growth,” shared TapRoot CEO Scarlett Spring. Spring went on to add that the data Ella is collecting will provide insight into disease progression and interventions with the greatest likelihood of success.

TapRoot’s Ella is also equipped with training and best practices for caregivers. Co-founder Linda Buscemi, PhD, added that caregivers need support now more than ever.

“Ella ‘ella-vates’ caregivers by providing fast and convenient information regarding each resident, their specific behavioral episodes, and suggested interventions to mitigate dementia-related reactions,” shared Dr. Buscemi. The benefit that Ella is providing at the point of care is unprecedented and needed to improve outcomes data, caregiver efficacy, and support alternative payment models between payers and providers.

TapRoot’s Ella is deployed into senior living communities and home care companies across Arizona, North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida.
