Transforming Global Oncology from the Heart of Arizona:
Arizona Bioscience Company of the Year – TD2 Oncology
In the relentless fight against cancer, TD2 Oncology is making a profound impact on global health and innovation. Founded in 2003, as a division of the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), TD2 has evolved from a specialized preclinical provider into a comprehensive, global, and fully integrated precision oncology Contract Research Organization (CRO). Through strategic acquisitions, technological innovation, and an unwavering commitment to accelerating breakthrough therapies, TD2 stands as a transformative leader in the life sciences.
CROs play an important role in the development of new treatments and cures by accelerating drug development, optimizing clinical trial execution, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
A central pillar of TD2’s leadership is its enduring contribution to Arizona’s bioscience ecosystem. Employing a large team of hundreds of professionals, TD2 serves as a vital economic engine for the state, offering high-caliber career opportunities for PhD-level oncology researchers and anchoring world-class scientific talent in Arizona. Since its acquisition by Research Corporation Technologies (RCT) in 2020, TD2 has leveraged institutional backing to accelerate its operational scale, solidifying Arizona’s reputation as a hub for translational medicine and clinical research excellence.
At the core of TD2’s global influence is its fully integrated precision oncology platform. Bridging the traditionally disjointed gap between discovery and human trials, TD2 offers a seamless end-to-end ecosystem that combines preclinical modeling, regulatory strategy, and clinical trial execution under one roof. Its sophisticated preclinical services—including cell line-derived xenografts (CDX), patient-derived xenografts (PDX), immuno-oncology models and advanced cellular therapies —provide the foundation for complex early-phase clinical trials.
Furthermore, TD2 operates at the vanguard of modern cancer therapeutics. The company has deepened its specialized capabilities in high-growth areas, including antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), targeted radiopharmaceuticals (strengthened through a strategic partnership with CuradhMTR and Minerva Imaging), and advanced in vivo CAR therapies
To support these state-of-the-art modalities, TD2 acquired Flow Contract Site Laboratory (FCSL) in 2024, expanding its flow cytometry expertise to support immuno-oncology and advanced cellular therapy trials.
TD2’s recent momentum includes a global reach. In 2024, the company officially expanded its footprint into Western Europe, delivering comprehensive clinical management to international clients while maintaining its operational headquarters in Arizona. TD2 benefits from frequent meetings with world-class oncology experts through its Oncology Therapeutics Innovation and Strategy (OTIS) Council. These experts’ position TD2 to remain at the forefront of innovation in oncology medicines and clinical trial design, while aligning their expertise with the future of precision medicine.
Over the past two decades, TD2 has conducted hundreds of preclinical and clinical studies, establishing itself as an early leader in novel trial designs for difficult-to-treat malignancies such as pancreatic cancer. This work generated critical preclinical data that advanced into clinical trials and ultimately supported the approval of new medicines for patients with cancer.
