Program fees and engagement/support tiers:

Capstone program fees help support the BME capstone program and projects, and cover all the basic project expenses, including materials and consumables. The BME capstone program is revenue neutral, and funds are used to support the overall program and your individual project.

Clinical partners and non-profit organizations are *exempt* from program fees, and small businesses *may* be exempt from program fees. Please discuss the goals, needs, and budget your organization has for capstone with Program Manager Ding Ding Zheng for more details.

The program fee is tiered depending on the scope of involvement, NDA and IP requirements:

  1. $5,000 – standard gift level of support and may involve non-disclosure agreements and/or IP agreements made directly with student teams.
  2. $7,500 – support involves non-disclosure agreements made with relevant parties beyond student teams, such as with members of the capstone education team (e.g., faculty course instructors, course graders, and instructional aides).
  3. $10,000 – support involves non-disclosure agreements and IP agreements made with relevant parties beyond student teams, such as with the University.

Depending on the project scope and deliverables, additional funding beyond the fee amount may still be required for materials, facilities use fees, external support, team travel, and so on.
